infinitives and gerunds

Infinitives


An infinitive is the form of a base verb with to.


Examples: I want to continue my trip.

to continue is an infinitive.

Examples: to talk, to sleep, to sing.


Gerunds. 

Is when a verb ends in ing. Gerunds are sometimes called 'verbal nouns' and should not be confused with past participles.


Examples: Driving is fun.
